This winter wedding in NYC at Strong Rope Brewery had SUCH a fun, relaxed vibe. One of my favorite things about being a photographer is getting to see couples be surrounded by love, and this wedding was no exception. Kathleen and Shane had gotten married the day before, but had their reception at the brewery complete with wood fire pizza (some of the best I have ever had) and a candy bar. Their dog, Bernie, even got brought out to the reception for an hour.

Why You Should Have A Winter Wedding In NYC

I absolutely love any city for a winter wedding because you have more architecture to focus on rather than nature. Some venues can look a little dreary in the winter, but a pretty building looks great year round. Strong Rope is set against the New York Harbor with a great view of the Statue Of Liberty. The venue itself is really industrial and beautiful with all the exposed brick, which is a decoration itself. There is also something to be said for having access to a ton of indoor venues for when it is cold out. It was FREEZING outside on Kathleen and Shane’s wedding day. They braved some massive wind for some photos outside the venue, but it was nice to be able to retreat inside for the family photos. 

Where To Stay For Your Wedding At Strong Rope Brewery

The Marriott Brooklyn Bridge was a short drive to the brewery. It had some great murals and lots of natural light for getting ready photos. The hotel was also a short walk to a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge! I love getting photos of all the places you visit on your wedding day. Traveling from the getting ready site to the venue is always a fun photo opportunity. 

Where To Take Portraits Near Strong Rope

We went to the Louis Valentino Park and Pier. It was about a 5 minute walk from the brewery, but kept the same industrial vibes as the venue. The pier was incredibly windy, and Kathleen and Shane couldn’t go without their coats the whole time. But it offered great city views as well as being a little closer to the Statue Of Liberty. Once their dog got dropped off at the venue, we also did photos on the back patio of Strong Rope. It was so beautiful at sunset! Another perk of Strong Rope Brewery is having a great portrait location right out the back door.
