With its city views and quiet paths, Libby Hill Park is an easy suggestion for almost any Richmond Va photoshoot. But what do you do when you want to make your photo session unique? We made this session personal to the couple in such simple ways. Lean Into The Season

This session took place in February, so we went with lots of layers. Hats, coats, hot coffee. You don’t even need to see the setting to know that it is winter in these photos! Lean into the season for your photoshoot. In the summer, pick your favorite flowy dress or linen clothes. If your session is on a colder day in the spring, pick layers in lighter colors to differentiate from a winter cold day. In the summer, you could choose an ice cream date instead of hot drinks. If it is festival time in Richmond, you could take photos around the festival that is going on! There are so many seasonal options in Richmond for you to choose from in your photo session.

Use Props

Props can be anything from coffee to ultrasounds for a pregnancy announcement. If you and your partner journal, or read, or do yoga together then bring the stuff! Even if you have a favorite or meaningful postcard you got somewhere special, that would be perfect to bring. Another option would be a significant piece of jewelry, or some polaroid photos of your past dates. I would love to be the one to help you figure out something sentimental to bring to your photo session. Props don’t have to be complicated, just make sure it is meaningful! 

Think About What Is Significant To You

My couple for this session wanted to go on their normal weekend walk for their session. We started at Riverbend Roastery because that is their normal routine. Then we walked to Libby Hill Park and took their normal route. On the outside, the photos are beautiful. But to them, they get to see their normal routine be romanticized! Those are the streets they walk together every weekend, and now their family in the future will be able to see them for exactly who they were. Now think about what is special to you. Do you have a favorite spot? A favorite activity? Even an in-home session would be so unique and capture your life how it exists in the moment. We can make art out of your everyday life!
