Congratulations on your engagement! If you are looking for a wedding venue that is close to Richmond Va but not actually IN the city, Brandermill Country Club would be a great place to check out. There are plenty of hotels and bars nearby for your guests to entertain themselves (or for an after party). In this blog post I will go into details about how Makeda and Mike planned their Brandermill Country Club wedding. Keep reading to get a general idea about venue specifics, wedding timelines, and photo locations we used to get the perfect wedding gallery!
Makeda used the bridal suite while Mike opted to get ready at home. The bridal suite has a huge mirror with nice lighting, along with plenty of pretty spots for your photographer to take detail photos. There were plenty of spaces to hang dresses for you and your bridesmaids. A LOT of people fit inside this suite.
Makeda and Mike used the pavilion right outside the reception space for their wedding. It is a pretty blank space, which makes it easy for you to make your vision come to life. It is also the perfect ceremony space to get the photos of your first kiss with your family and friends in the background! We used the ceremony space earlier in the day for the first look. It was so nice to be able to get photos of the empty ceremony space at the same time a special moment was happening.
The reception space is right next to the ceremony space which would be nice for older guests. There really is no guessing. It is also a pretty blank space for you to use to create your own vision. The bar area is beautiful, and it has a little lounge attached which is great for people who might want to get away from the loud music. Everything is very easy to find and well marked!

The Boathouse At Sunday Park: This is one of my favorite restaurants and it gives you access to a beautiful waterfront park.
Sergios Pizza: A great causal spot for people to grab some food and a drink.
Uptown Alley: Right across Hull Street. This would be an easy place for an after party!
Metro Richmond Zoo: Great for if you have kids attending your wedding who might need some entertainment in the days before. Especially if they are traveling to Midlothian from another state, or staying in the area for your rehearsal dinner.
Skinquarter Farmers Market: A great place to grab local food, they also have an ice cream truck! Check seasonally to see if they are open for your wedding weekend.
This wedding happened pretty close to sunset, so it was timeline-saving to have a first look! This enabled us to get family photos done before the ceremony and focus on sunset couple’s photos after the ceremony. It also helps to get family photos done pre-ceremony so that you can go enjoy a little bit of your cocktail hour. Having more time during the getting ready portion of your day really goes a long way towards you enjoying every second of your wedding reception and hanging out with your friends and family. There is also something to be said about seeing each other for the first time while walking down the isle. Especially if that is something you feel really strongly about. But if you are going to go about your timeline that way, make sure you have plenty of sunlight after your ceremony to get all the photos done!
Makeda and Mike opted for my 10 hour photo collection. This enabled me to be able to stop at Mike’s house to get photos of him and his groomsmen getting ready without having to hire a second photographer.
I offer 6, 8, and 10 hour wedding collections! Pricing starts at $2,000 with the average client spending about $3,000. Check out my wedding details HERE. My contact form is linked on my website. Once you inquire I will send you my pricing guide with a link to sign up for an inquiry phone call if you decide to move forward!
