Congratulations on getting engaged! There are a ton of tasks that I know are on your mind. Your engagement session is a great way to get to know your photographer before your wedding. Richmond Va is a great place to choose for your engagement photos because you have a little bit of everything, and it all happens to be pretty close together. Are you more outdoorsy? Or do you prefer more of an urban feel for your engagement photos? Between the James River, historic buildings, and city streets, here are my 5 best engagement photo locations near Richmond Va.
Maymont Park
You have SO many options if you choose Maymont as your engagement photo location. It is definitely a hike down to the Japanese Gardens, but the hike is totally worth it. You also have the mansion, Italian Gardens, and plenty of spaces in between. Parking is right by the gates, so you don’t have to parallel park anywhere. You are also really close to some of my favorite restaurants if you and your partner want to make a day out of your photos.
Belle Isle
With Belle Isle, you get the James River. You can have city views or make it look like you are in the middle of nowhere. Belle Isle also has grassy fields and trails through the woods, so you can really choose your own adventure.
Tucker Park
Tucker Park is perfect for people who don’t love taking photos in front of a crowd! There is usually no one there other than a few people walking their dogs. You get a beautiful view of the James River with a field that makes it look like you are in the middle of nowhere. There is also a cute trail, and you can even get into the river here with a little river access.
Canal Walk Murals
If a city feel is more your speed, nothing says Richmond like the canal walk murals. There is plenty of parking around the restaurants, and it is such a fun walk around the city. You can choose your favorite mural, or go around to all the different ones! It is also close to a bunch of restaurants for you to have a date night.
Streets In Richmond
This option can be very personalized. Do you have a street or area in Richmond that plays a big part in your relationship? It is so much fun to go back to places that have a big part in your love story and include it in your engagement photos.
